The Terrain Session
Pattern mapping, and the session where you go meet it
You can see your patterns. You can name them. You’ve probably done years of work on them already, and still your mind circles the same ground, hunting for a way out it can’t find. That isn’t a failure of insight. You can’t see the whole shape of a pattern from inside it, no more than you can see your own face without a mirror. If you’re feeling stuck in life despite all the work, this is the mirror.

You can circle a pattern for years and never find the way out. Not for lack of looking, but because you can’t see the whole of it from the inside.
What this is
Most people who come to this work are not beginners. You can see your patterns clearly, maybe too clearly. You’ve done the therapy, read the books, had the insights into the ancestral echoes, the inner child wounds, the limiting beliefs, the archetypal dynamics running the story. What you haven’t been able to do is stop the circling: the mind returning to the same pattern again and again, looking for a door it can never quite locate.
That’s the maddening part. Not the pattern itself, but knowing exactly what it is, watching it start, and still not being able to stop it.
There’s a reason for it, and it isn’t willpower. Understanding lives in the part of the brain that goes quiet the moment the body reads threat. The pattern lives lower down, in the part that never went to school and doesn’t take instruction. Calm, we can think about it. Activated, we’re in it, and the part that knows better isn’t in the room.
And you can’t see your own face. There are parts of your own shape you simply can’t see from the inside, no matter how hard you look. For that you need a mirror.
My chest tightens and my throat closes when I go to ask someone for help. I have sat with the phone in my hand, a friend’s name on the screen, a small ask already typed out, and watched my thumb refuse to move. I know where this started, what it protected, and what it has cost me. Knowing has never once gotten the message sent.
A pattern is what shows on the surface
The handling. The shutting down. The leaving before we’re left.
The Terrain is everything holding it up. The nervous system it’s rooted in. The part that built it. What it was protecting. The job it’s still doing.
It sits somewhere specific, and it leans a specific direction, and both of those are findable.
The map without the body is more insight, and most of us have enough of that. The body without the map is more experience, and it scatters. Together they close the loop: the analysis finds where the pattern lives, and the session takes you there.
This isn’t about fixing anything in one session.
It’s about seeing clearly enough to know where to focus. Some patterns will want deeper work. What the Terrain shows you is what’s there, and what it might need.
Think of it as the map before the journey.
The process
1. The Deep Inventory
Your written intake · 20 to 30 minutes
After booking you’ll receive a link to your intake form. This is where the work begins. You’ll write about what’s showing up, the patterns, the stuckness, the questions underneath. What you write becomes the foundation for everything that follows, so take your time. The tangles and the things you almost didn’t mention are often where the patterns live.
2. Root pattern analysis
Before we meet
Your words, your story, your language. Your intake is read closely and mapped, by me and by a pattern-recognition tool I built on my own framework. I work every step of it, and nothing reaches you that I haven’t shaped.
I sit with what you’ve written, follow the threads, go back to the places where there’s more underneath than the words are saying, and push deeper where I sense there’s more. I bring what no method alone can reach: what I feel reading your words, and what your story is asking for beneath what it says.
You may receive a few follow-up questions based on what surfaced, probing where there’s the most energy or the clearest gap. By the time we meet, I’ve already been sitting with your material.
3. The live session
90 minutes together · Online
Roughly half is conversation. Following what’s alive, asking what the analysis raised, going where there’s heat. The other half isn’t conversation, and it’s what makes this different from a very good coaching call.
Breath first, and it isn’t a warm-up. The brake is in the body, not the mind, and breath is the most direct lever on it. Slow the exhale and the system follows, whether or not the mind agrees. It’s also chosen for the nervous system in front of me. Some systems need to be set down. Some need to move first, because a system running flat doesn’t need more stillness. Flat is not rest.
Then hypnosis. Not stage hypnosis. You’re awake, you can talk, you can open your eyes, you can stop. It’s a focused state, the same one you drop into on a familiar drive, and in it the parts that don’t speak in conversation get a way to be heard. Often a part isn’t given words; it’s asked what it’s been listening for. The answers are frequently not what anyone expected, including me.
Then journey work. The order matters and doesn’t reverse. Hypnosis surfaces the material; the journey takes it somewhere. A journey has a landscape, a tree, a pool, a cave, a clearing, whatever your system offers, and what arrives there arrives on its own. If you don’t see images, this works anyway. There’s a route through sensation and body location instead.
Then closing. Coming back slowly, with a callback to what the session turned out to be about, in body language rather than concepts. And one specific instruction: when this rises again, here is what to return to, and here is how.
4. Your Terrain Map
Delivered within 5 days · Session recording included
This is not a session summary. It’s a comprehensive working document, typically 15 to 40 pages, synthesising everything: what you shared in your intake, what the analysis revealed, and what emerged in our session together.
You also receive your full session recording, so you can revisit the experiential work on your own terms. People refer back to both the document and the recording for months. They’re built to travel with you.
What the mapping gives you
An address
Most of us are working on everything at once. The anxiety, the over-giving, the thing that happens in relationships, the not being able to rest. It feels like effort and rarely like progress, because a scattered fight is the same as no fight. When the pattern has a location, there’s one thing to aim at instead of nine.
An order
This is the part almost nothing else does, and it’s the part that changes outcomes. The order is almost never the behaviour. If the body can’t yet stay present with what rises when the pattern gets touched, nothing done at the surface will hold, and that reads as personal failure when it was only ever the wrong sequence. Ground first. Then the material. Then the pattern. A lot of people have done years of good work in an order their system couldn’t use.
A different relationship to the pattern
Not a defect. A solution that worked, still running. And alongside it, something real that got built: thirty years of reading what a room needs makes a person genuinely extraordinary at reading rooms. That skill isn’t a consolation prize. Nobody handed it over. The trouble isn’t that it exists, it’s that it fires whether or not it’s called for. Nothing here asks you to become less perceptive, or less capable, or less kind. The question is whether you get to choose when.
What’s asked of you
Very little. Sit or lie down, listen, follow, say what you notice.
No performing, no producing, no particular state to reach. If nothing dramatic happens, that’s information rather than a failed session. Some systems need the first pass to be about proving it’s safe to be there at all.
If something floods, we stop, settle, and come back. Feet, ground, room, breath. That isn’t the session going wrong.
And there are places we don’t go. Some material is defended and can be approached gently. Some is protected, and the system has good reasons. I read the difference before we ever meet, and I don’t push through a protected door.
More than once, someone has found a younger version of themselves standing off at a distance and wanted to hurry toward her. We slow down instead. I ask what the younger one is listening for, and she answers, and it is almost never the sentence the adult had ready.
This is for you if
- ✦You’re feeling stuck in life. You can see your patterns clearly, but the seeing keeps circling back to the same place without ever landing.
- ✦You’ve done real work already and need someone who can meet you at the depth you’ve reached, not start from scratch.
- ✦You sense there’s something ancestral or inherited operating, or inner child material that still runs the show when you’re activated.
- ✦You’re tired of insight without tools. You want practices, not just understanding.
- ✦You want something that works with the body, not just the mind.
- ✦You’re preparing for deeper work and want clarity on where to focus.
- ✦You want something thorough, honest, and tangible, not vague spiritual platitudes.
What your Terrain Map includes

What to expect
Slower than this field usually admits, and not a lightning strike.
What tends to change first isn’t the pattern. It’s the distance to it. Noticing while it’s happening instead of an hour later. Then a beat before. Then a pause where there used to be nothing between the trigger and the response. Then coming back to yourself in twenty minutes instead of three days.
Slightly sooner, slightly less consumed, slightly faster to return. It sounds small. It compounds, and it’s the whole thing.
Activation won’t disappear, and it isn’t supposed to. It’s information. What builds is the room to have it without being run by it.
Patterns also resurface. That isn’t backsliding. It’s the work presenting itself again, usually a layer deeper. This is a spiral, not a ladder.
What people say
“Boy, am I glad I took a chance and said yes to a Terrain Session! The report was so in-depth and jaw dropping. It was like someone showed me a window into my subconscious and why I am the way that I am.
Having a Terrain Session with Sheila is life shifting in so many ways. Just being with her centered energy is healing, but she also brings with her a wisdom that is rooted in both experience and her gift of being able to listen intuitively. She explains things in a way that I can understand really complex topics easily. She is a trustworthy wayshower, and a guide I have worked with for almost a decade. Her Terrain Session completely blew my mind. She was able to see deep into my subconscious so that I can heal stubborn patterns in my life. She found the root cause of why I was stuck. The suggested exercises helped me to integrate the discovery so that I could rewrite this part of my story. The issue I was facing is quickly disappearing after this session!
The session was enlightening, empowering, and completely life altering in nearly miraculous ways. I already want to have another session!”
— Rebecca
“Witnessing me and giving me such a safe and sacred space to truly heal. I’m still glowing from our session. I mean, ENERGIZED.”
— After her Terrain Session
“So much wisdom and practical tools. Thank you thank you thank you.”
— After receiving her Terrain Map
“This new offering you have created to help facilitate healing in others is amazing.”
— After receiving her Terrain Map

Common questions
What people ask before booking: how this differs from therapy or coaching, what to write in the intake, whether it works if you’ve already done years of pattern work, and what happens if something in the report doesn’t land.
How is this different from therapy or coaching?
The Terrain Session includes significant preparation before we meet. Your intake is analysed for patterns using a framework most practitioners don’t have. Then the live session combines conversation with somatic work, breathwork, hypnosis and journey work, to access what lives below the level of talk. The deliverable, your Terrain Map, is a comprehensive working document with practices, progress markers, and rituals tailored to your specific patterns. This isn’t weekly processing. It’s a structured mapping with clear outputs.
What if I don’t know what to write in the intake?
You’ll receive clear prompts and guidance. The patterns often live in the tangles, in the things you almost didn’t mention, so write what’s actually showing up even if it feels messy or unclear. You can’t do it wrong.
Do I need to have done other work with you first?
No. The Terrain Session works as a standalone offering or as preparation for deeper work. Many people use it as a starting point to understand where to focus their energy.
What if something in the report doesn’t resonate?
Your discernment is part of the process. This is built from your actual words, your specific patterns, your narrative, not a generic template. If something doesn’t feel true, that’s information. Sometimes the resistance is the signal. And sometimes I got something wrong. Either way, your 14-day deepening window is there for exactly this: push back, ask questions, add context. The document gets better when you engage with it.
Is this going to fix my patterns?
No. And anything promising that in a single session isn’t being honest with you. What the Terrain Session does is give you clarity about what’s operating, how it connects, where it lives in your body, and what tools will actually help you work with it. Some patterns will want months of attention. What you’ll leave with is a map, the felt experience of something shifting in the session itself, and practices you can use immediately. The work continues after we meet.
How long before my session should I complete the intake?
At least 72 hours before your scheduled session. That gives time for analysis, review, and any follow-up questions.
I’ve done a lot of healing work already. Is this still useful?
Often more so. People who’ve done significant work tend to get the most from the Terrain Session, because they have the capacity to go deeper and the framework to work with what surfaces. You won’t be starting from scratch. The analysis meets you where you are, and the session goes where your system is ready to go.
Not quite ready to book?
Start with the free one. Running on Empty is a Terrain of its own. Not built from your intake, but from the ground almost everyone is standing on right now: the tiredness sleep doesn’t reach, the yes that’s out of your mouth before you’ve checked whether it was true, the long middle where you can see the pattern clearly and still can’t shift it.
Read it slowly, with a pen nearby. Some of it will land, some won’t, and that’s information too.
