Description
We’re told joy is the easy part — the reward waiting once the hard work is finally done. The Weight of Joy begins from the truth that it isn’t. Joy comes in small and doesn’t stay, and holding something that both matters and won’t stay takes a kind of strength no one thought to teach us.
If it’s been hard to feel joy lately — if the good moments seem to slip past, or arrive and refuse to land — this Terrain offers a gentler explanation than something must be wrong with me. It maps the quiet ways a good moment gets lost: the worry, fear, or grief that arrives a beat behind it; the guilt that won’t let joy sit beside sorrow; the wound that greys the present so the good never registers. And it offers one small, doable practice for letting a moment in and staying with it.
Written with particular tenderness for anyone carrying grief, and for anyone who has ever wondered why happiness is so hard to hold, The Weight of Joy isn’t a fix. It’s a map — and a kinder way to stand on this ground. A digital Terrain (PDF), roughly a dozen pages, for private reflection.
